Bible Verses On Faith

Bible Verses On Faith
1. What Faith Is

(Hebrews 11:1)
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

2. How Faith Comes To Us

(Romans 12:3)
“… as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith …”

(2 Thessalonians 1:3)
“… because your faith grows exceedingly.”

(Romans 10:17)
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

3. We Are Saved by Grace Through Faith

(Ephesians 2:8-9)
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

(Romans 5:1-2)
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

4. Faith Without Works is Dead

(James 2:17-26)
“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead … Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? … You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only … For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”

5. Faith the Size of a Mustard Seed Will Move Mountains

(Luke 17:6)
So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”

(Matthew 17:19-20)
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast him out?” So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”

6. Faith to Faith – Strength to Strength

(Romans 1:16-17)
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “the just shall live by faith.”

(Psalm 84:5-7)
“Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, whose heart is set on pilgrimage … They go from strength to strength.”

7. We Walk By Faith – Not By Sight

(2 Corinthians 5:7)
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

(Hebrews 11:6)
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

8. Do Not Doubt or Waver in Your Faith

(James 1:5-8)
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

(James 2:1)
“My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality.”

(Hebrews 10:23)
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”

(Matthew 21:21-22)
So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. And all things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

(Mark 11:23-24)
“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast in to the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to pass, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

(Matthew 14:28-31)
And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught Him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

10. God Will Test Your Faith Levels From Time to Time

(1 Peter 1:6-9)
“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ … receiving the end of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

(Job 23:10)
“But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.”

11. Acts of Strong Faith From the Bible

Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”

(Acts 6:8-10)
“And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people … And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.”

(Acts 3:16)
“And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong … Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”

(Matthew 9:28-30)
And when He came into the house, the blind men came to Him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened.

(Matthew 15:28)

(Matthew 9:21-22)
And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment; for she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” But Jesus turned around and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.”

(Daniel 6:22-23)
“My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me … So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God.”

(Hebrews 11:7-17)
“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household … By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would afterward receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going … By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son …”

(Hebrews 11:32-34)
“… and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.”

(Hebrews 6:10-12)
“For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

13. Do Not Ever Lose Your Faith in the Lord

(Matthew 13:58)
“And He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”

(Hebrews 3:19)
“So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”

(Hebrews 4:2-3)
“… but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest …”

(Hebrews 3:12-14)
“Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.”

(Romans 11:19-23)
You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.” Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you will also be cut off. And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.”
